This institution
was founded by Late Guru Lingoraj Acharya in the year 1980.
Since than the institution has been training several artists
in Seraikella Chhau dance. Guru L.R. Acharya was one of the
last gurus of the Purthosahi Akhada one of the eight Akhadas
was one of the eight Akhadas of Seraikella Chhau dance schools.
Several traditional dancers were part of this Akhadas as dancers,
teachers and gurus have contributed in the development of
Seraikella Chhau dance in their own right. This institution
apart from training dancers has participated in various national
and International dance festivals in India as well as abroad
like India International Mask Dance Festival organised by
I.C.C.R & S.N.A. Beginning from 1987, it has given both
solo and group performances in several national international
dance festivals. |
| The first international
festival and seminar on dance and Martial Arts of Asia, organised
by Padatik, Yuva Mahotsava organised by Sahitya Kala Parisad,
Special Chhau Dance Programme sponsored by Sangeet Natak Akademi
at Bhubaneshwar, a festival of all styles of Chhau dance organised
by the Indain Council for Cultural Relations in Delhi. Under
the sponsorship if S.N.A. gave special performances with his
group in Karnataka at famous temple sites Chidambaram and
Ikeri. He has also sponsored with his group by several dance
music organised such as Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Madras, Bhapa
Insititute and Russian Culture Centre, Mumbai, Indian International
Dance Festival of S.N.A. and I.C.C.R, 105th Birth Day Anniversary
of Pandit Nehru organised by Jawaharlal Nehru Foundation at
Teen Murti Bhavan. Has given several performances for the
Trade Fair Authority of India at Pragati Maidan. |

Performed
at International Mask Dance Festival Organised by S.N.A.,
IGNCA and ICCR, Rajgir Festival, Sharat Festival by
UP SNA, performed at Ganatantara Mahautsava at Gauwahati
and Shillong organised by SNA Governement of Assam,
fourth Jeevan Pani Memorial organised by Smt. Sonal
Mansingh for CICD, Khajuraho Dance Festival 2002 performed
at Vedabyas Festival at Rourkella 2002.
Acharaya Chhau Nrutya bichitra has
been invited to several interantional festivals in Singapore,
Canada, Reunion Island, Malta, South Koria & 50th
year of Indian indepence celebrated in Japa.
Presently under the guidance of Shri
Shashadha Acharya the eldest son of late Guru L. R.
Acharya & his three young sons Shri Sukant, Shri
Sapan & Shri Ranjit Acharya the institution is imparting
training in Seraikella Chhau dance in Seraikella &
Delhi. The institution is now one of the leading centre
for Chhau in the country. It has also been selected
as one the training centers by the Sangeet Natak Akademi
under its project to support ot Chhau dance. |
